Tech Logic’s Mobile Self Check-Out App to Debut at LAPL
WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (June 22, 2011) – The Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) Silver Lake branch is debuting Tech Logic’s MyMobileLibrary: App, a mobile self check-out application (app) powered by Boopsie, in August 2011. The library will brand this venture as “LAPL to Go.” MyMobileLibrary: App will also be unveiled at the American Library Association’s (ALA) Annual Conference at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La. from June 24–27, 2011.
Tech Logic has worked with LAPL to design the MyMobileLibrary: App mobile self check-out app. The app allows patrons to privately and securely check out items from anywhere within the library using their smartphone. A detailed list of checked-out items and due dates are available to patrons in the app as well. The app communicates with a library’s Integrated Library System (ILS) and is compatible with RFID security, utilizing MyMobileLibrary: Security Kiosk. Mobile self check-out means less waiting time and quick self check-out for patrons.
MyMobileLibrary: App debuting at the LAPL’s Silver Lake branch is the first mobile app in a public library for self check-out with security. More details about the app will be available this fall.
“Los Angeles Public Library is proud to be the first public library to offer its users a mobile self check-out app that is compatible with RFID security,” said City Librarian Martín Gómez. “This innovation is the latest in our ongoing effort to build a model digital library and bring technology’s benefits to library users.”
Gary Kirk, President of Tech Logic, said, “We are very proud of our development partnership with LAPL. Their ideas and collaboration with our engineers had a tremendous impact on MyMobileLibrary: App. This app is the next logical step in helping libraries become more efficient by providing more outstanding self-services to their patrons.”
