Combo Station® - Self-Service Checkout
Your Patrons Will Love It
Are you tired of long lines at your circulation desk? Tired of sending staff across the library to solve self-checkout blocks? Tired of setting blocks artificially high so the self-checkout actually works?
There's a solution. The Combo Self-Service Checkout Station (U.S. Patent 6,994,252) is placed at your library's traditional circulation desk. Lines disappear as patrons help themselves and staff can easily resolve blocks without leaving the circulation desk. Users can easily accomplish self-checkout, while the circulation staff person merely observes and assists as needed.
The Tech Logic combo station uses a patron friendly interface, designed by your library, and a touch screen monitor.
These four simple steps enable quick self-checkout by patrons. All a patron does is:
- Insert his or her library card
- Place items on the RFID antenna
- View the item list displaying onscreen for confirmation
- Press Okay to check out items
Now “Blocks” are No Problem
Here’s how it works: The patron can be prompted by the block in any manner that you wish, because you have full control of the patron interface screens. If the block can be cleared, your staff person can handle this material individually without ending the patron’s session. The system has two screens; one for the patron and one for the staff person. The staff person simply reviews the screen block and if necessary, he or she can turn off the patron screen. Once the staff person has cleared the block, the item is simply returned to the RFID antenna and the screen is “given back” to the patron to continue from the place where the block originally occurred.
PPS Station
Tech Logic offers a powerful optional - and unique - feature on the combo stations: an in-desk Personal Payment System (PPS) service center. The Tech Logic Self-Checkout PPS includes a grab-and-hold patron card reader, a credit/debit card swipe, a dollar bill acceptor, a coin acceptor with change return, and a large capacity receipt printer. The PPS is flush-mounted in the countertop and rises on shocks for easy maintenance.
