Tech Logic to Release New Generation of CircIT Self-Checkout Software
White Bear Lake, MN – June 25, 2008 – Tech Logic will release CircIT Version 3, the next generation of powerful, flexible self-checkout software, this summer.
Tech Logic created the first generation of CircIT in early 2007. CircIT is a dedicated Web server system that integrates with a library's automation system for self-checkout, circulation, reports, and RFID tag read/write functions. CircIT offers unlimited HTML customization options for patron screens, and functions with RFID and barcode technology. Its second release, CircIT Version 2, included "Instant Checkout," in which checkout and tag deactivation appear on one screen, and "Hybrid Checkout," simultaneous RFID tag and barcode checkout for the ultimate in patron convenience.
CircIT 3 will enhance library automation vendor communications and staff and patron functions.
Automation System Communications
Two additional library automation vendors' systems will join the list of systems that CircIT communicates with. CircIT 3 will communicate with systems by Innovative Interfaces Incorporated (III) to transmit fine information, to make payments, and to ensure that the payments have been correctly credited to the patron. CircIT 3 will also communicate with Endeavor Information Systems' ILS, Voyager.
Patron and Staff Enhancements
CircIT 3 will help libraries improve patron service by providing details on items they have checked out, including fine information, holds, overdue items, charged items, unavailable holds, and recall items. Also assisting patrons will be the new version's ability to accept credit card payments for fines.
CircIT 3 will assist staff by displaying a daily total for fines and other payments in library bill handling equipment.
