Round Rock Public Library Receives People First Award

Tech Logic dodged a central-Texas thunderstorm last week to present our People First Award to the staff at Round Rock Public Library (RRPL) in Round Rock, Texas. Tech Logic brought coffee and treats catered from local Round Rock businesses (thank you Pie Jacked, Paige’s Bakehouse, and Malone Specialty Coffee!), and Round Rock brought city leaders, friends of the library, and the stars of the show—RRPL staff.

Like other People First Award recipients, RRPL’s spaces, programs, and team members reflect a commitment shared by modern libraries around the world—a commitment to serve as relevant, “people first” community centers. Check out our previous blog post to read more about RRPL’s outstanding staff, spaces, and programming.

Addressing RRPL staff, Library Director Michelle Cervantes said, “For Round Rock Public Library, it’s vital to recognize and reward our people. Award ceremonies like this celebrate teamwork, excellence, and resourcefulness, while showing appreciation for the hard work behind your accomplishments.”

The tight-knit family of RRPL staff members gathered to celebrate RRPL's People First Award reception. Congratulations to Round Rock Public Library!

Tech Logic’s COO, Tim Granquist, also addressed attendees. “Tech Logic wants the library to be an environment where people are helping other people grow and learn. That’s the epitome of what a community center such as a public library is meant to be,” Granquist said. “I think Tech Logic has an interesting role in this industry—we serve the patron, but we do it by serving library staff. Our goal is to create time so that library staff can spend more time with library patrons. Technology is what we use to pursue this people-first mentality.”

“With the People First Award,” Granquist continued, “we choose to celebrate libraries who have really done an exceptional job with the people-first mentality and the pursuit of an environment where the people-first mentality resonates. Round Rock is a perfect example of this.”

Tech Logic’s COO, Tim Granquist, presented Tech Logic's People First Award to RRPL, commending RRPL as "the epitome of what a community center such as a public library is meant to be."

Granquist presented the People First Award to Geeta Halley, RRPL’s Assistant Library Director, who invited several more RRPL staff members to come to the front and help receive the award. “They represent every staff member here,” Halley said, sharing how each department represents RRPL’s direction, idea generation, commitment to continuous improvement, and collaboration.

“Interdepartmental collaboration is what makes this library such a great place to work and to serve our patrons,” Halley said.

Thanks again to local Round Rock businesses for helping us celebrate! Pictured above: ultra-chocolate "baby-cakes" with white chocolate medallions provided by Paige's Bakehouse. Ohhh myyy....

Congratulations, again, to Round Rock Public Library on their extraordinary, inspiring, and ongoing efforts to fulfill their mission and benefit the people in their community. Thank ya'll for allowing us to come to Texas and celebrate with you!
